Alfie came to visit about an hour ago. My granddaughter is getting married Saturday and he came for the wedding. The rest of the family is coming tomorrow from Colorado and Ohio. Thank goodness for a big 4 bedroom house.

He has been telling me he is bringing a surprise and said I may not need to make a cake (Mango Cake that Justlucy posted the other day). It sure smells good!

He pulled in the carport and I was standing there waiting. He was just barely out of the van and he said, "Here's dick for you". Right in front of God and everybody and the playing next door!!! hahahaha

Ok, for those English people, it is Spotted Dick! Dick in a can!! Whoo hoo! We Americans need to take lessons, now they "can it" and it is spotted no less!!! By the way, it is and English pudding.

He also brought some Birds (brand) custard in a box to go on it.

I have a goofy - yes, she comes by it honestly - that will get a kick out of it. I will share it.

I just got off the phone with Lexxie (Pam) and she is going HOME today! Not the nursing facility. She talked the Dr. into it...only Lexxie!! lol

They have an IV dripping now and as soon as it finishes she can leave.

She will have 4 weeks of Vancomycin, then do a MRI. She will be taking Bactrim for 6 weeks also.

The Dr. told her that she has a good chance of not losing her good leg as they got a jump on it. He said on a scale from 1 to 10 she is less than a 5 so they are doing aggressive treatments. Normally they would not do it this soon. She was pleased to hear that.

The Infectious Dr. said they are "Going with the Big Guns"!

To send her cards it is One Two Four Greenhaven Lane, Apt. 2-C2, Gurnee,IL 60031. She would love calls she said and that is 8four7-six two five-one5nine nine.

Pam (Lexxie) was in a bubbly good humor, much better than yesterday. She is excited to go home and see Sunshine.

I just finished talking to Lexxie and she is pretty down today.

On Friday the Dr. had the results of the MRI and the pain she has been complaining of in her good leg, he said she has Osteomyelitis and Cellulitis. She has a lesion inside the bone. He wants to continue with the Vancomycin for another 4 weeks, she has been on it for 2 weeks, then take another MRI. She will discontinue the Zosen she has been taking. The Dr. said he will deal with the lesion in 4 weeks after the MRI.

She may have to go to a place in Highland Park, IL called Manor Care. She is going to try to go home and asked her sister to bring her insurance papers to see if her Medigap will pay for her IV (Infusion Clinic) daily if she is allowed to go home. She will talk to the Dr. tomorrow when he makes rounds early afternoon.

I wrote the place and the phone number is eight4seven-two six six-9 two six six. Tomorrow I will write another blog to let you know if she will be at Manor Care and post the address too or you can look it up on Google.

If anyone has sent cards they will be forwarded to either Manor Care or her home, so she will get them. If you call Vista Medical Center where she is now, they will only tell you she has been released, thanks to the privacy act.

Lexxie said she will be released tomorrow, so say a prayer that the Dr. will allow her to go home for the 4 weeks. She will be able to do things herself as she is a nurse.

I hope this makes sense, I was making notes as she was talking. She asked me write a blog as I was the first one she has talked to about this.

Remembering Paris

I had heard about Paris and knew I wanted to meet her someday. After Lothringia talked so lovingly about her and came to the USA to meet her plus others.

Shortly after I saw her in a chatroom and went in thinking, finally I meet Parisdreamer! We were both excited to meet as she had also heard about me. Sometime in there she sent me an e-mail telling me she trusted me and told me her name, Venus. I could hear her chuckling as she said it. I wrote back and told her I thought it was a great name.

One day she said her sister was making it possible for her to attend the St. Petersburg Bash last October. I whoo hooed and she laughed.

When I got there it was quite late and she had gone to bed but Alfie (Hawkslayer had spent a lot of time that day talking to her)told me we would meet the next day.

We were out on the patio area and he said, "turn around". I did and there she was! We hugged and hugged and hugged again. Later we were at the store and Alfie said, "look behind you" and there she was again. More hugging. lol He just stood there grinning at us.

Over the past 6 months we talked on the phone and sent e-mails. She would talk some about her cancer.

Fast forwarding to her time in the hospital. We talked on the phone most days. She finally asked me if I would read any blogs about her and the comments, which her sister said she looked forward to me doing.

Last Saturday Vonnie, her sister, and I talked for a long time. She told me her gave her a book about Paris, France. She loved the big beautiful pictures. She said she may not make it there but at least she was seeing it with the pictures. He told her, "When God sends an angel to take you, the angel will make a detour to Paris and take you for a visit".

Her sister said Paris would say something funny or suggestive. I laughed and said, now we have you calling her Paris. She remarked, no sometime she is Venus, then she will make a comment and she is the Paris we, her friends all love. She said it was interesting to see the difference. She said she laughed at the difference and Paris loved it. While the nurse was there showing her how to do things for Paris, Vonnie said that Paris would make a good Doctor. She thought Paris was asleep or out of it. Paris laughed and said no, but I sure would like to (make a Doctor, lol). Vonnie loved that!

Yesterday I called to see how Paris was. Not good and was making her final peace with the Lord. Vonnie and I discussed her being able to hear. I told her there were some blogs from NancyL and Vonnie said, let's try it. We agreed that if it bothered Paris I would quit. I read them and could hear Paris make noises like a combination chuckle/sigh/ahhh. A couple of times she would breathe hard and it was like she was trying to respond to the memories. I told her I understood and she would get quiet. I finished and she was getting in her new world she was entering. I am glad we did this.

Belle la Donna called me to tell me Paris had passed away about 6 pm.

When I found out what time Paris left us, I quickly counted and realized it was about time the lights went on in Paris. Maybe she really got to see that!

Belle summed it up perfectly...Paris made each person she talked to or came in contact with, feel like they were the only one to her.

When I finished work today I bought 2 white balloons, one from Alfie and one from me. We have a beautiful park in our town. It has an upper and lower lake. There is a spot I stopped at that is between the two. I was untying the balloons, looked over and saw 5 Canadian Geese getting in the upper lake. Vonnie told me yesterday Paris loved the water and loved to watch it from Vonnie's house. I thought the lakes would be a perfect place to release them. I watched them until they disappeared in the fluffy clouds and on the way to our Paris. I said a prayer as they left my hand. There will be 2 more the day of the funeral.

I just hung up from Paris/Venus and she said she is going home to her sisters. She has several people in the room for a last visit. One of them is the Hospital Chaplain. She will do her funeral service. She was waiting for the ambulance to transport her.

Paris asked me to do this blog and tell everyone she loves them very much and thanks for anything they have done for her.

We just had a quick visit. She is feeling anxious and scared.

She will write when she gets settled in at her sister's and will write a blog as soon as she is able.

Please pray for her and send her mental hugs.

Thanks to Classic1942 for a wonderful well planned Bash in Nashville! Thanks also to Treasurehunter for all he did helping. Thanks too to Michianaredhead for a great Silent Auction. You all made a fun, well organized weekend.

We arrived (finally) on Thursday, Alfie was sent by his GPS to the wrong Guest House Inn and waited in the lobby for 2 hours before the lady told him he was in the wrong place. He gave my name and she never checked at that time apparently until regular check in time. I was almost to Nashville when he called me. We eventually met up and drove the rest of the way in. We dropped off our stuff and went to the Hospitality room. What fun it was to meet those there and the rest as they started arriving.

Thursday evening we all went to eat at wherever we wanted. A group of us went to the Santa Fe Steak House. That poor waiter we had will never forget us! He kept calling me Groupie Groper! I bet he never saw a bunch of Seniors like us! At least they didn't call the cops!

Friday we all met again in the Hospitality Room then left to do whatever. Alfie and I took a shuttle to the Gaylord Inn. A truly amazing place! There are 9 acres of flowers, trees, etc. We walked over to the shopping center then walked all the way back to the Guest House Inn. I think it was just shy of 100 miles!!!

We all met at the Caney Fork Fish Camp for dinner Friday night. I naturally had to have Grouper in honor of my nickname, Groupie Groper. There was 1 pound ham slice!!! also salmon and catfish. Truly a lot of food and ohhh so good!

Saturday we again met in the Hospitality Room and did a silent bid on the items. There were lots of "strange ones". My slippers will be known as Traveling Slippers. SassyLady wound up with them. She asked where they first came from and I told her, Washington, IN. Next was Nashville, TN then on to Atlanta, GA. She said she will make sure they travel more. They are slippers made out of Sanitary Napkins with Flowers. If you are ever at a silent auction or White Elephant Auction with her, be careful or you may wind up with them!

We watched the video Paris made for us. Paris, we love you! It was funny, sad, and so cute, just like her.

Saturday night everyone fudded up in Western Glam. We went to the Nashville Palace for dinner and dancing and generally fooling around! What a fun evening that was! Treasurehunter danced all the slow dances by himself. lol Michianaredhead fixed herself up special in honor of the Bad Girls and the King of Bad Boys being there.

Each night we wound up at the Lounge at the hotel after each evening event for dancing, drinking and a general fun time!

I had fun doing my special old lady dancing and had very sore legs the next day!

Sunday many left to go home and that is sad to have to say Bye Bye but hopefully not for long. We do have more bashes in the future!

Monday the rest of us left. All of us at the Nashville Bash had a wonderful time and one we won't forget. Ann and Alfie (hawkslayer)
