Ok, that is my excuse!! Yesterday morning I was curling my hair, put a few in and decided to go downstairs and put my driver'a license in with my ticket confirmation. Well...no driver's license, no credit card, no nuthin! Panic began to set in...

I tore the inside of my purse apart looking for the holder I keep all those things and other important cards. I called to see if any activity had appeared on my credit card. None, so thought I would cancel it later, didn't have time, I had a plane to catch. I looked everywhere I could think it could possibly be. I then called Alfie (hawkslayer) and gave him the bad news that I may not be able to come, no ID to board a plane.

I called 2 of my sorority sisters that I had been with the night before at a meeting thinking maybe they had seen it. One gal went to the meeting place and searched where I had sat. The other had taken all our contributions we bring monthly for our local food give away program. She searched each bag and nothing there.

By then sheer panic had set in!! Both suggested calling our License Branch to get a temporary ID. I did and it went to an answering machine, I left my phone number and after 45 min. and no call I went out in hopes they were open. One day a week they are closed and I wasn't sure if they were closed on Thursday.

I went ahead and finished my hair, grabbed my suitcase and naturally I can't find my birth certificate. I had looked recently and knew I didn't have an actual one, just the hospital's one. I grabbed some social security papers thinking maybe they will work (they don't). I even thought to grab the last payment of my credit card to use as proof I have one if I needed it to get my ticket. The people tried to help and for $10 I was able to get a temporary ID good until Wednesday. She asked if I could give names of people that knew me, business or political. I gave her several names including the ex mayor sitting in the Licence Branch right then. If I didn't produce my birth cirtificate or driver's license by then my driving privliges would be suspended. The gal got it all typed up, picture taken and card made then said...bad news, the laminating machine was not working but should be fixed in a few minutes.

I am about to lose it by then! One gal laughed and told me to quit watching the clock.

I needed to be on the road in 5 minutes or less to get there an hour before the flight.

Just under the wire I leave headed for the airport an hour away.

Driving there I had gone about 13 miles, reached in my side pocket to get a mint and....there was the picture case with my cards, driver's license, etc!! I started laughing and said, God, I know you have a sense of humor and are sitting there laughing knowing how this would end! I had been talking to him and praying all through this.

I called Alfie and said, Guess what I have in my hand. He knew I was on my way as I called him when I got my ID. When I told him, he laughed and said...why didn't you look there? I guess blind panic and didn't see that side of the purse, so sure it was inside my purse. He laughed and said, you really are still a blonde under that white hair!!

Got to the airport and the flight was late leaving Atlanta to pick us up and make a return trip.

I told the lady sitting by me what all had happened and she laughed and bless her heart, she said the same thing happened to her but she never did find hers.

Alfie picked me up in Macon from the shuttle. We were so happy to see each other and it all worked out. He took me to dinner at BoJo's where he went and the big boobed waitress fell against him, knocking him to the floor and "they" landed on his face. He even wrote a blog about this shortly after he joined SFF.

We have been on the go since I have been here. Out to breakfast this morning at The Cornbread Cafe, then too visit friends of his for lunch. We just came in from the Georgia Military School for the Honors Parade. His step grandson was presented an award. It was quite a moving experience. I love Military events and this was a good one to see! Tonight we are meeting his step for dinner at a place called Sylvia's Grill he likes really well and wants me to try.

Tomorrow we are going to sight see and have dinner at Ruby Tuesday's with his friends I met today. Sunday his step is having a dinner for us.

I think I like this "Southern Hospitality" but may need larger clothes if I keep it up!

I have been listening to and watching the news from Florida.

Now I am wondering...does anyone know if any of our SFF members have been affected by the tornado?

If you do know, please post on here and let all of us know. I am sure I am not the only one wondering.

Wow, betcha thought I would never get this done didn't you! Busy time of year plus working too.

We got into Georgia late Thursday. Friday morning after the good old southern breakfast...what a lot of food...we went for a ride to see the area. We saw Lake Sinclair which went on forever, here and there. We went to the Governor's Mansion (Milledgeville was the capitol of Georgia until the Civil War, then moved to Atlanta) but it was closed for decorating for Christmas. We walked around and went into the gift shop, I bought a gorgeous silver bracelet and Alfie bought me a mug of Milledgeville. He knows I like mugs from places.

We browsed the Visitor's Center and looked around the town. We stopped by his sister in law and brother in law's house. They had a birthday gift for me! I was so surprised. It is a cute bisque lighted train I have put on the mantle. We went back and changed for the party at Annmarie's for me to meet the family. That was so nice of her to do that for me. We had finger foods and we sat around talking. Both of Alfie's step daughters and stepson were there with their spouses and . The 6 year old granddaughter had lost some teeth and I commented on it, she said, I have lost 6 teeth and am 6 years old. The almost 2 year old is so fun to watch, she is in her own little world and curious about everything.

Pictures were taken and I got so tickled. I am usually taller that everyone or as tall, this time I was a shrimp! I am 5'6" or maybe now 5'5". One gal Kathy is 6'2", Annmarie is 5'10", and George is 6'5". I really like all of them and mercifully they like me too. These are Alfie's late wife's . After pictures, Annmarie had us go into her beautiful dining room (the whole part of the house we were in was gorgeous) and she had a 4 layer Key Lime Cake with cute swirled candles for me to blow out. The cake had cream cheese icing with finely chopped pecans mixed in. I cut and everyone got a piece. YUM! Love Key Lime Cake, Alfie asked her to have that kind for me.

On Saturday we had another good old southern breakfast at the Cornbread Cafe. It is big and all knotty pine inside. When we finished we went back to his sister in law and brother in laws for coffee and apple crumb pie. Boy can those southerners eat! I like it, ha-ha. We drove around some more and he took me to the Uncle Remus Museum in Eatonton, Georgia. What a fascinating place. It is a log cabin made from 2 slave cabins. There were lots of slave memorabilia as well as other things from that period. The town is the birthplace of Joel Chandler Harris who wrote Uncle Remus, Brer Rabbit and other stories. The grounds have several things, made by Eagle Scouts as their project, a bridge, gravel and cement footpath, signs describing the trees and plants, etc. My granddaughter called when we were in there and she asked where we were. I told her and she was so impressed. I described some of the things we were looking at. We knew by then we needed to head back and get ready for Annmarie's 40th birthday party.

Saturday night we went to La Fete, a new banquet/party building. Very nice! Her theme was black and white and she asked everyone to wear black. She wore a white slinky dress with a tiara! Pretty!! She is a very pretty gal! We had tons of finger foods and the cake was a 2 layer sheet cake done in black and white with a big 40 on it and swirling things stuck in. Lots of black and white balloons, each table had a white candle in a tall vase on a square mirror with black, white, and silver sparkles sprinkled on the mirror. We ate and ate and danced. They had a DJ so naturally I got to dance to YMCA!! Love that one! We slow danced and I finally got Alfie to dance fast or somewhat fast. I told him to wiggle those hips! Ha-ha, Annmarie's husband gave a 40th tribute to her. They were married in the spring. Several people came up to us and said Alfie, everyone really likes Ann! Woo hoo! Ha-ha.

Sunday morning as Alfie said, we went to breakfast again with his sister in law and brother in law. The Cornbread Cafe was closed until 8 so we went to another restaurant. As soon as we all ate we said our goodbyes and left for Indiana. We stopped to eat a yummy lunch at a small diner in Monteagle, Tennessee. Alfie said he will remember it. Good food and inexpensive.

He left on Tuesday morning for Georgia. It was a wonderful trip! Thanks Alfie (Hawkslayer)!!

I posted a blog yesterday, it appeared for roughly 5 minutes or so. I can type in my handle and see it and it even shows on the home page that I have one comment. It isn't on when I click on View All, just when I type in my handle. Ahhhhh such is life in SFF Blogland I guess. This time it is my turn. Darn and it was The Rest of the Story about the parties. I will try again later today.

I just wrote AKA on a comment. Funny how things make your mind remember something. My friend worked at a Bank of America years ago. She loved telling funny, true stories about things that happened there. She was a teller and the drive thru was behind her where she could hear them talking. The gal working the window helped the customer and when she finished with them she said have a good day Mr. Aka. My friend knew the customer and he was named John Jones and Aka John Brown. My friend lost it!! Uh, she had a bladder problem and yup you guessed it!! Right there in the bank. She is fun to go places with, ya just never know what will happen when she gets tickled!!

Today the gal I work with said she saw someone talking about this on TV, last night I believe.

She asked me, if you could relive ONE DAY out of your whole life, what would that day be and why. I gave a spur of the moment answer but I think that was because it was so unusual and so fun. Since then, I have given it a lot of thought and still haven't come to a complete answer. What would your ONE DAY be? Want to share? If you don't, it will give you something to think about.

I arrived in St. Petersburg very late (almost midnight)Thursday. This plane was late, that plane was late. There were so many still up and we talked until about 2 am. The first person I recognized was Maudie. I hoped Lothringia was close by and he was! Everyone hugged and whooped and hugged some more. It was fun to see faces of those we only see pictures of. Some look the same and some kind of different.

I knew this would be fun but it was much more than I expected!!!

There was a grocery store across the street, I laughed, we went all the way to Florida and wound up in a grocery store!! Part of the meals we ate in our rooms. Most mornings we had breakfast in our rooms. The first morning I was there quite a few of us met in the dining room for breakfast. A great buffet but at the price, we decided it was too much for each day.

Friday was fun, more people arriving! Someone said, look who is here...Parisdreamer!! Whoo hoo!! Finally we meet!! Several of us wandered off in different directions seeing what was to be seen.

There were several "SFF Matches"...that was fun. We CAN keep secrets! Guess they aren't secrets anymore... LUKN showed up, I knew he was going to but a lot didn't so it was a surprise since it had only been 3 weeks since his stroke.

Saturday night we had our Mardi Gras Ball. Great food and great entertainment. Magic,Magic, Magic sang, then LUKN sang. Fossilfetcher thanked all that helped and some "fun facts" of we adults or senior citizens ?? skinny dipping and someone took a cooler into the lounge!! We may be older but we can still break some rules or show 'em we still got it!! I think the highlight of the costumes was Rusdur! He came in in a red flouncy skirt, red tights, red slippers and a red headband with a heart...Cupid!! Very cute!! Nope, no shirt!!
Mssweething had spiky hair that lit up!!! Belladonna was Lucy, red hair, big bright red lips and dressed like her. We had a purple, trimmed in leopard print - ! Several great costumes.

There were some great people and good lasting friendships. That is what we came in SFF for...friends! From all over the world, Austria, Wales, Germany, Ireland, England, all the way from down under Australia, all over Canada and all over the U.S.A we came to have fun and fun we had.

We should all thank fossilfetcher and justLucy, Sertj and Ed and many more that helped in any way. I sure hope they are already planning another one next year!!

A joke that GreatSmile4You had today reminded me of something the neighbor and I did in our little town in Illinois. We were all pretty young. The neighbor had a kitten with a big spot with no fur. We went to the lady and asked her what was wrong. She told us it had "The Mange" and would die. We all decided that since it was going to die we didn't want it to suffer so we went home to get "stuff". We put the kitten in a shoebox, whoops, it wanted out so one of us went home and got string. We tied the box real tight and dug a hole and put the kitten in the box in it! We all stood there and said a prayer for the kitten. None of us told our parents what we did until later that day. I'm not sure any of us told our Moms why we wanted the "stuff". Several months later they built a church where the kitten was buried so guess God thought that was a good place to build! haha I have never been back home that when passing that church I don't think of that poor kitten. Well, we believed the lady, why would she tell us something that wasn't true!

I just got an e-mail from Atrueheart saying she tried to sign on to SFF and they said she does not exist....hmmmm, how did she send the message...she lives and breathes in far off big ole Texas!

She asked to have the word passed that she is still a member and has sent a message to the "powers that be...SFF" explaining she does live and breathe! She is waiting for a response and said she would NEVER leave SFF without letting everyone know.

Hang on folks, she will return from wherever she didn't go to!
